What are the limits of freedom? To what extent can freedom be restricted? Is it possible to find an ethical principle for freedom of speech? These are the questions the authors of the intermedia installation Liberté explore, intentionally working with the highly relevant and resonant theme of freedom. Their inspiration comes from Eugène Delacroix’s painting Liberty Leading the People, known for its vibrant colors, contrasts, and play with shadows. Liberté materializes this theme visually on the walls of the historic building of the Faculty of Architecture and Design, using vibrations, light, sound and interaction with the audience. We must not forget—freedom is not a given.
